Sing, Unburied, Sing is a 2017 novel by Jesmyn Ward that won the National Book Award for Fiction, following a Black family in Mississippi as they journey to pick up the children's white father from prison, blending magical realism with harsh realities of race, poverty, and trauma through the eyes of a young boy, Jojo, and his drug-addicted mother, Leonie, while being haunted by literal ghosts.
