An Evening of Magic & Whimsy
An enchanted evening awaits those who attend this St. Paul’s fundraiser. The event, on Lake Lillinonah in Southbury, will feature a breathtaking collection of extraordinary, one-of-a-kind, mechanical musical instruments. The museum quality pieces will astound you with their variety, ingenuity and joyful sound.

Each week we will be sharing information about the progress made in our Parish House Renovation here in the newsletter. For more information about the project, click here.

These weekly updates are part of our A Place to Belong campaign renovations. The campaign includes: Total renovation of our Lower Hall, including: flooring, ceilings and LED lighting, window repair, mini-splits, food preparation and creative use space renovation, adding accessibility ramps, bathroom renovations (including ADA restroom), appliances, and furnishings; Upstairs renovations including: Bathrooms near the Pearson Room (including ADA restroom), new flooring from the entryway, throughout the Pearson Room and extending to the Seabury Room; new ceiling and LED lighting, painting throughout including both stairways, and new furnishings.

A Place to Belong Campaign: We are closing in on our final deadline of August 1st for the end of our campaign. It is inspiring to see so many people participate at every level as we approach the finish line! Our total participation is up to 78% of the congregation - wow! And there is still room for you.

Did you know that:

• Every gift of any size matters more than you know. A large percentage of congregational participation not only gives us more room to finish our project well, but gives us an advantage when it comes to applying for grants for future projects. 

• You can increase the size of your gift later on. Even giving a smaller, token gift now adds your name to the list of campaign supporters. You are always welcome to increase the size of your gift even after the campaign officially closes.

• We never share information about pledge amounts. Every gift matters, no matter the size. When we list the names of our donors for recognition, they are never listed by pledge size or category. Every gift matters. 

• Our campaign closes on August 1st. We will be closing the campaign as of August 1st so that we can honor our donors for the Grand Opening Celebration in September. We will continue to receive financial contributions after August 1st - including monies pledged over time. 

It’s not too late! Add your name today!

Behind the Scenes

Construction projects involve much more than what we see each week.

Behind the scenes, architects, contractors, parish leaders, and members of our Building Committee continue to work together to ensure every detail reflects the vision of creating a welcoming and functional gathering space for St. Paul's.

Please keep everyone involved in your prayers as decisions are made and work continues in the weeks ahead.

Exterior Renovation Update: While the entry pad is being installed, please continue to use the side entry door (near the Seabury Room) to enter and exit the parish hall. Additional ushers will be available on Sunday mornings to assist those with mobility issues in entering and exiting the building. 

Thanks so much to Lydia Strauss-Edwards for overseeing this project with Earth Tones Nursery; to our property committee members: Marianne Daly, Russ Depace, and Jeff Leavenworth; and to our sexton, Ron Crowcroft, who continues to assist with making the parish as safe and accessible as possible during construction. 

PATHFINDING: Exploring the next steps through guided writing

Are you at a crossroads, wondering which path to take? Have you ever wanted to try writing but didn’t know where to start? Are you an experienced writer looking for fresh ideas and insights? Join Pathfinding, a four-week writing workshop led by Charlotte Evans, a former writer and editor at the New York Times. Participants will work with prompts each week, learning from Charlotte and from each other. 

Four sessions on Tuesdays, 6-7pm in the Seabury Room. August 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th. Free of charge; registration is required. Email Rev. Tuesday, rector@stpaulswoodbury.org, to sign up. Hurry! Spots are limited.

• TAG SALE – BAKE SALE To Benefit Camp Washington

  • Donate your GOOD items for Camp to sell- no baby toys, electronics, or junk please. Only vintage or clothing in excellent shape will be accepted- We are looking for good, vintage, antique, saleable and high-end items to sell.

  • Donation drop-off dates: July 24-25 10am-2pm only (No pick-up service available)

  • Also- Calling ALL Bakers! We are looking for bakers to bake for us! Drop off goodies Friday, July 31st 12:00 pm-5:00 pm

• New Start Ministry- We are looking for volunteers to drive Allan home after work, from Marie's Movers in Oxford to his apartment on Jewelry Street in Waterbury, CT. • Parish Administrator Away- From May 1st through July 25th our Parish Administrator, Hannah Berg, will be away, and will not be accessing email. During that time please direct questions to Rev. Tuesday Rupp, rector@stpaulswoodbury.org. Thanks!

• An Urgent Message about our Little Free Pantry- Our Little Free Pantry is being used heavily right now — about 75–90% of the food is gone every two days. The large donation that recently filled our shelves has now mostly been distributed to neighbors in need, and supplies are running low again. Click here to learn more!

Professional Nursery Care is on hiatus for the summer. Our beloved childcare worker, Nicole, will be back with us on Sunday, September 13th. Parents and caregivers are welcome to make use of the nursery during services and parish events.
